About our group:

The Device Physics Pillar within the Seagate Research Group (SRG) consists of the Joint HAMR Lab (JHL) and the Advanced Recording Group (ARG). The Advanced Recording group performs high ADC spin-stand testing and modeling to global groups to guide transducer level and drive level design for advanced HDD products.

About the role - you will:

  • Material handling and inspection
  • Order picking and shipping
  • Assembly
  • Manual/cnc toolroom machine set-up and operation
  • Reading and understanding of blue prints and shop work requests
  • Machine maintenance
  • 5S activities
  • Quality inspection with calipers, micrometers, surface gages and Cadillac gages

Your experience includes:

  • 2 Year technical degree in machining or tool & die recommended or work equivalent.
  • Ability to apply skills learned in the classroom to situations in the workplace.
  • Ability to understand dimensions and tolerances and a good working knowledge of shop mathematics.
  • Ability to do basic programming in Mastercam or related CAD/CAM packages.
  • A good understanding of basic trigonometry.
  • A good understanding of basic geometric tolerancing.
  • Must be able to understand directions in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Have effective problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of various industrial machines including:

  • CNC equipment (ours are currently Haas VMC and 5 axis machines)
  • Both manual mills and lathes
  • Sheet metal brakes and notchers (manual) and hydraulic shear
  • Inspection equipment
  • Calipers, micrometers and precision bore gages
  • Good Windows based PC skills
