About our group:

The Device Physics Pillar within the Seagate Research Group (SRG) consists of the Joint HAMR Lab (JHL) and the Advanced Recording Group (ARG). The Advanced Recording group performs high ADC spin-stand testing and modeling to global groups to guide transducer level and drive level design for advanced HDD products.

About the role - you will:

  • Be responsible for building and maintaining the spin-stand systems to execute advanced HAMR experiments.
  • Build, install, maintain, or troubleshoot complex test electro-mechanical test systems
  • Conduct routine tasks and provide logistical support of engineering labs.
  • Execute lab tests, script modifications, entry-level data manipulation, and produce reports on findings
About you:

  • You must be able to work and communicate effectively with a diverse, global group of engineers, technicians, vendors, and customers.
  • You have demonstrated innovation.
  • You have an intense desire to learn.
  • You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • You should have an aptitude for hands-on maintenance-type duties.
  • You have computer proficiency with various operating systems and hardware experience.
  • You can lift 50 lbs. (23kg).
Your experience includes:

  • Technical Certificate, or a two-year AAS Technical Degree in Electronics, Mechanical Maintenance, Robotics, or similar
  • Prior experience working in a lab, with bench and hand tools, soldering skills, python scripting, component handling experience, or exposure beneficial
