Summary of Job Duties:This is a Monday - Friday day shift position.

The Patient Service Liaison works under general supervision counseling patients on their schedules, procedure, instructions and collaboration with financial authorization and financial obligations. The position will be responsible for processing scheduling criteria, coordination of care, coordination of procedure, coordination of patient obligation and insurance authorizations. This position works collaboratively with physicians, revenue, care teams and scheduling to ensure appropriate financial clearance and scheduling is coordinate with the teams and the patients. The OP Time scheduler is expected to demonstrate competency in the job elements of all the levels of scheduling with an emphasis on care coordination and collaboration keeping the needs of the patient a priority.Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma/GED or formal education plus seven years of training and/or experience in business office administration, customer service, or related work of which three years' experience is in patient registration, scheduling, or billing in a healthcare environment OR Bachelor's degree plus three years' experience in patient registration, scheduling, or billing in a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules, reschedules, and coordinates appointments using hospital software by performing visit notifications to patients, pre-registration of patients as needed, inputs and/or updates accurate patient information.

  • Process walk-ins, create new patient charts, access systems for orders, work patient portal and maintains tracker board for multiple departments.

  • Schedules surgeries and/or tests. Issues prep instructions, sends out no show letters, and letters to referring providers for no shows.

  • Responsible for blocking schedules in EPIC as appropriate.

  • Collaborates insurance verification and benefit explanation patient obligations.

  • Conducts authorizations and pre-certifications, tracks pre-authorizations maintains referrals. Enters scheduling criteria and works in collaboration with authorization team to determine benefit and authorization information.

  • Coordinates referrals, communication for referring physicians with reschedules and no shows.

  • Maintains records for tracking of patients with urgent, semi-urgent and screening needs.

  • Coordinates outside records and documentation for capsule endoscopies and ensures documents are entered into EPIC.

  • Counsels patients on any and all related financial information i.e. hospital discounts and reviewing Medicaid screening.

  • Monitors patient balances using the matrix payment method.

  • Responsible for pre-counsel of patients regarding the payment expectation for service.

  • Ensures complete and accurate data entry into OP time with emphasis of coordination of patient, anesthesia and providers with conflict resolution on equipment.

  • Attends required training and/or in-services.

  • Attends staff meetings and participates in the orientation and/or training of new staff. Participates in annual educational needs assessment.

  • Maintains required job skill competencies and completes skill assessment annually.

  • Completes and maintains documentation of continuing education hours annually.

  • Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed.

  • Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary.

  • Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines. Assists internal and external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service.

  • Other duties as assigned
