The Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for supporting the Branch Manager in the operational, compliance, and sales performance of the branch and may direct the operations of a branch in the absence of the Branch manager. The Assistant Branch Manager is knowledgeable of bank products and specialty business lines and must be willing to grow the branch's customer base, deposits and increase products per household through various sales activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in hiring, scheduling, coaching, training and cross training of branch staff to ensure branch coverage at all times and contribute to a strong team environment by motivating and leading staff.

  • Ensure that all branch operations procedures are followed and that all staff is properly trained in security, compliance, and all procedures and functions of their position. Cross train staff members to ensure branch coverage at all times.

  • Maintain knowledge of all retail roles and be able to oversee all staff in their duties and functions to maintain proper compliance with all branch processes and procedures.

  • Assist customers with choosing the appropriate consumer loan product: maintain knowledge of loan policies and procedures; take applications and key applications into centralized loan system for underwriting; communicate decision to customer, and close and fund all types of consumer loans; assist with the branch's consumer loan portfolio.

  • Take responsibility for branch and individual goals through engagement with customers and prospective customers to present and cross sell products and solutions to meet their needs; submit referrals to other staff members or lines of business and collaborate with all branch staff to assist them in meeting or exceeding individual or branch goals.

  • Assist management in achieving branch growth by participating in community activities, making regular and/or business development phone calls or other sales activities as assigned.

  • Perform regular branch audit functions including teller cash audits, compliance documentation audits, clerical, supervisory and management reporting as requested.

  • Ensures all departmental documents and activities are performed in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures as applicable to this position, including completion of required compliance training.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, general business correspondence and/or journals or government regulations.

  • Ability to write reports and simple correspondence.

  • Ability to read, write, analyze and comprehend simple instructions, financial reports and/or legal documents and business correspondence.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, to customers, clients and other employees in the organization

Education and/or Experience

  • HS Diploma/GED and

  • Sales and customer service experience required

  • BS/BA degree in lieu of experience

Computer Skills

  • MS Office program
