Job Description

The Maintenance Technician will be involved in work of a varied nature with minimal supervision, to assist the Director of Maintenance with continuous improvement activity within the facilities. As the subject matter expert on various equipment, this position will assist the Director of Maintenance in coaching all levels of the team including operator and technician on equipment PM based standard work, lessons learned from failures, trained trainer activities, execution of Preventative, Predictive, Precision, and Corrective Maintenance work on the area of expertise as needed to drive continuous OEE improvement action execution.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Competently and independently diagnose, plan, and perform all operations necessary to install, modify, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, rebuild, and dismantle various types of complex manufacturing and support equipment with special focus on advanced troubleshooting on control systems, servo drives, motors, gearboxes, VFDs, HMIs, and PLCs on complex high speed packaging lines.
  • Work with Director of Maintenance, Site Engineer, and Operations team to develop, execute, and maintain continuous improvement plan i.e., OEE, Waste, Safety, and Food Safety efforts.
  • Assist Director of Maintenance with implementation of proper Preventative and Reactive maintenance programs to eliminate equipment breakdown failures.
  • Lead equipment reliability efforts on assigned team focus.
  • Coordinate efforts with relevant Operations personnel in identifying improvement opportunities within the plan and develops justifications to substantiate potential cost savings
  • Assist Operations team and Process Engineer with training team to maintain equipment in "Like New" condition and minimize downtime.
  • Operate with little direct supervision and express a high degree of self-sufficiency in resolving mechanical and/or electrical issues as they arise.
  • Provide preventative, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on manufacturing production equipment, as well as building equipment.
  • Coordinate with other technicians, production personnel, engineering, management, and other personnel to communicate and plan maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate with equipment/service vendors for OEM assistance.
  • Perform unscheduled or emergency repairs on equipment when needed.
  • Troubleshoot and correct complex problems on manufacturing equipment by repairing and/or replacing needed parts in a timely manner.
  • Identify and design opportunities for maintenance or process improvement and drive recommendations to implementation or resolution.
  • Follow all maintenance procedures including inspections and repairs.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and well-organized working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Comply with regulatory procedures, Westrock Coffee and departmental policies, GMP and safety standards.
  • Assist other maintenance technicians as priorities dictate, time allows, or directed.
  • Responsible for disseminating information to other technicians in the form of training, advising, and/or directing.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
  • Must obtain certification to operate MEWPs and Class 1-7 Forklifts.

Qualifications include:
  • Require minimum of 5 years' experience in the Industrial Maintenance field
  • Require experience with 3-phase motors, gearboxes, bearings, solenoid values, vacuum pumps, chains, sprockets, belts, rollers, star wheels, pneumatics, chillers, contactors, relays, fuses, breakers, photoelectric sensors, and ultrasonic sensors.
  • Require applicants to certificate as a CMT-2 through IMI (International Maintenance Institute) within 6 months of placement
  • Require validation from management on "subject matter expert" on in house equipment
  • Required to hold a certification in Welding
  • Must be able to read and understand complex instructions, prints, flowcharts, timing diagrams, and schematics
  • Must have able to clearly articulate and relay instructions to a variety of personnel ranging from upper management to other hourly associates
  • Must have ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must have ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors, or employees of the organization
  • CMRT certification highly preferred
  • Prefer Industrial Electrician Certification
  • Prefer 8+ years' experience of manufacturing maintenance in a food grade facility
  • Allen Bradley VFD training preferred
  • Prefer experience with fabricating various plastics and metals into various shapes and structures as needed
  • Must have positive conflict management skills.
  • Must have continuous improvement mindset and familiarity with improvement methodologies.

  • Ability to collaborate with all parts of the operation to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
