Position Summary:
The Test Technician II is responsible for testing company products using industry standard equipment and creating well written reports in the execution of advanced test plans. This is a mid-level position that draws on prior ammunition and firearms experience, technical, and creative skills to test ammunition in accordance with developed standards. The Test Technician II will collaborate with Engineering, Production and Quality on new product development. This includes data collection, troubleshooting and root cause analysis, as well as workplace organization and safety.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
* Handload various ammunition for test and evaluation.
* Directly assists in Engineering and Production testing of new products.
* Provides efficient and effective planning and performance of routine and non-routine mechanical inspection using pre-determined methods for product acceptability.
* Implements expedient methods of inspection to maintain product flow in accordance with company directives.
* Provide assistance in the development of fixtures and gauges.
* Utilize the corrective action system and subsequent follow-up process to resolve deficiencies found during the job function.
* Seeks and acts upon ways to improve daily work processes to enhance quality and productivity and satisfy customer needs and expectations; look for cost reduction and service improvements; eliminate unnecessary or low-priority work; initiate and encourage others to resolve impediments and act on improvement opportunities.
* Perform ammunition testing to ensure compliance with all Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturing Institute (SAAMI) standards for ammunition manufacturing following approved testing protocols for all key performance data including (but not limited to) - Pressure, Velocity, Accuracy, and Primer Sensitivity. Must be able to handle all types of commercial firearms and weapons effectively and safely.
* Safely and effectively operates test equipment according to manuals, work instructions, or industry standards.
* Follows moderately complex test plans to execute testing of ammunition as assigned.
* Document raw test data and creates comprehensive written test reports to SIG SAUER INC standards as assigned.
* Analyze test data to provide periodic, accurate test status reports to Management as assigned with minimal support.
* Participate in analytic groups for driving to the root cause of internal and external quality failures, particularly related to the prevention of customer escapes.
* Maintain qualifications to act as a Range Safety Officer to include passing First Aid/Trauma Management classes.
* Must be able to infrequently work a varied schedule to include evenings, weekends or holidays based on customer demands or to support organizational goals.
* Maintain range certification while always handling and shooting firearms in accordance with SIG SAUER INC policy.
* Engage in and actively volunteers for Continuous Improvement projects/tasks.
* Participate in and sustains 5S Standards.
* Must follow all required ISO procedures, comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements, and adhere to SIG SAUER, Inc. security mandates.
* Must be able to travel infrequently.
* Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Required Skills:
* High School Diploma required.
* Associate degree preferred.
* 5+ years' experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Proficient with surface plate layout techniques utilizing traditional measuring devices (e.g., indicators, height gages, calipers, micrometers).
* 1+ years' experience as a test technician in the ammunition/firearms industry required.
* Intermediate report writing skills required.
* Experience reading drawings and blueprints, including working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
* Mid-level armorer understanding of company products to facilitate the use of judgment in determining product acceptability in subjective situations.
* Experience identifying and troubleshooting common ammunition and firearm malfunctions required.
* Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturing Institute (SAAMI) standards for ammunition specifications and manufacturing requirements including all appropriate testing protocols.
* Establish and maintain functional knowledge of the operation and maintenance of all quality inspection equipment used in the ammunition manufacturing process.
* Rudimentary knowledge of components, assemblies, and product form, fit, and function.
* Basic Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
* Experience using and maintaining firearms is preferred.
* Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Working Conditions:
* Able to lift up to 25 pounds.
* Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.
