OVERVIEW: The Director of Vehicle Transportation is a Forensic Investigations position that provides technical and management oversight of the Transportation Practice Area for Forensics. Defines expectations, standards, and goals for the Transportation Practice Area. Responsible for practice area growth by identifying areas of opportunity and developing plans to address these areas of opportunity. Ensures that the consistently high standards expected by our clients from Rimkus experts across all company offices are maintained and adhered to. Conducts quality reviews of Transportation assignments. Provides technical leadership, training, and mentoring of consultants performing work within the subject practice area. This will be accomplished by defining and implementing operational procedures, assisting with assembling the appropriate qualified experts for assignments, and monitoring assignment progress. Provides input and support to superiors. Works matters within employee's areas of expertise. Works under minimal supervision, exercising initiative and independent judgment in the performance of assigned tasks.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring to Practice Leaders and others in the practice area related to Forensics.
  • Provides annual capital expenditures budget for Transportation equipment.
  • Develops annual Transportation Business Plan.
  • Develops policies and procedures specific to the practice area.
  • Stays abreast of industry and technology trends applicable to the practice area.
  • Identifies markets of opportunity and develops plans that will address those markets of opportunity.
  • Supports company marketing efforts through continuing education presentations, sales calls, and attending conferences.
  • Develops/trains new Transportation Practice Leaders.
  • Oversees FARO scanner program.
  • Consults with District Managers and Regional VPs for input on employee performance reviews.
  • Identifies areas of expertise the company is lacking and assists in identifying potential candidates to rectify the deficiency.
  • Performs technical reviews.
  • Performs random audits of Reports of Findings for technical accuracy and concise conclusions.
  • Works matters within employee's areas of expertise.
  • Coordinates and works with other Technical Area Directors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum B.S. or B.A degree preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years' vehicle accident reconstruction forensics experience including commercial vehicles.
  • ACTAR certified.

REQUIRED SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Strong leadership ability.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior technical skills in accident reconstruction and transportation-related matters for forensics.
  • Strong critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
  • Professionalism and ability to manage details of a confidential nature.
  • Past supervisory or management experience is helpful, but not mandatory.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS, OVERTIME, and TRAVEL:

Physical Demands - Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, bend, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The position requires the ability to speak, write, and communicate clearly. Employees may lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Overtime - This position is salaried with exempt FLSA status. Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with one hour for lunch. There will be periods where overtime will be required, which the employee will need to comply with in order to meet the demands of the position.

Travel - 25% and some overnight travel.

The Salary Range for this position is $200,000.00 - $250,000.00 and is dependent on education, experience, location and certifications/licensure.
