Department:COM | Neurosurgery Research Staff

Summary of Job Duties:A Research Technician opportunity is available through the Neurosurgery Department in the Winthrop Rockefeller Cancer Institute. The laboratory focuses on the improvement of therapies for brain tumors. Our main focus is on the tumor immune microenvironment with an emphasis on macrophage-directed pro-tumor mechanisms. We also study therapeutic delivery to brain tumors and blood-brain barrier disruption. We hope to find a self-motivated individual who likes autonomy and can work well in interdisciplinary teams. This laboratory is a clinical translational lab and therefore the candidates will interface/collaborate with both clinical and basic science personnel at the Cancer Center and in the UAMS Medical Center.Qualifications:

High School diploma/GED plus two (2) years of experience performing tests in a research laboratory required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience in animal handling.

  • Cell culture, and molecular biology techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Familiarity with cell culture techniques, flow cytometry, RT PCR, fluorescent microscopy, and protein evaluation.

  • Experience with murine animal models.


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and modifies test procedures and equipment for use in the laboratory.

  • Trains new employees and instructs students in the operation of the laboratory.

  • Inventories and orders laboratory supplies, chemicals, and equipment.

  • Analyzes test results and compiles into report form.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.


Salary Information:

$31,200 or $15.00/hr.
