Summary of Job Duties:The instructor is responsible to the Dean of Workforce Education and Training.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
-Provide instruction to students and prepare them in the technical competencies required to be successful in the automotive service industry.
-Maintain updated course documents and student academic records for courses taught. This includes utilizing an online learning management system to track attendance, grades, post course documents, etc.
-Utilize innovative teaching strategies to meet the learning needs of a diverse student population and enforce all program safety requirements.
-Establish and maintain working relationships with industry partners and the advisory committee to ensure the curriculum, reference materials, syllabi, technology and other training aids are current and relevant to the program.
-Serve as an advisor for students. This includes meeting with students to determine schedules, planning course of study to assure students can graduate in a timely manner, and referring students to the proper personnel for counseling, financial aid, etc.
-Maintain skills and knowledge within appropriate industry area through attending of professional development opportunities.
-Serve on standing and/or ad hoc committees as assigned by the administrative officers.
-Attending functions at the college as requested by administrative officers (graduation, open house, etc.).
-Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five or more years of work-related experience in the automotive service industry

  • Associate's Degree or higher or will commit to earning the degree if hired within a specified time frame

Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of the minimum qualifications upon approval by the Chancellor.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous instruction or trainer experience

  • ASE Certified Technician, EPA 609 Certification, Multi-meter certification, and other industry recognized certifications.
